In 2015, 2017, and 2019, he served as the team leader and consultant of the TIPF Toronto International Photography Festival Photography Contest for three consecutive terms.
A photographic based multi-media artist and Master digital printer, Rod’s passion is to create unique photographic and multi-media art works.
Rod exhibits frequently in art galleries, art shows and public spaces. His works are in collections in over 12 countries. As well as running Advanced Images, a boutique photographic printing company that specializes in working with photographers that are exhibiting or selling their work.
He has also curated or co-curated over 20 art exhibits and is a national & international photographic competition judge, having judged over 180 times. He also teaches and presents at photo clubs, regional & international conferences. He is one of two international trainers of judges for CAPA along with currently being the President of CAPA.
When time permits he enjoys photographing local hidden treasures as well as in far off places around the world that are rapidly changing.

Zheng Gong 宮正 (China) (中國)
Born in Luoyang, Henan Province, China in 1941, he is a first-class photographer of China’s national art series and an IPF consultant. Honorary Senior Member of New York Photography Society and FRPS of China Folk Photography Association. He has studied in the China Central Academy of Fine Arts and Shanghai Theatre Academy, and studied from famous painters such as Feng Zikai, Cheng Shifa, artist Wutai, director Wu Renzhi, etc.
He has successively served as the director and executive director of China Photographers Association; Secretary General and Chairman of Jiangxi Photographers Association; Vice Chairman of Teaching Committee of China Photography Correspondence College, President of Jiangxi branch of China Photography Correspondence College, Vice President of China Folklore Photography Association, Consultant of Oriental Art Research Institute of Jiangxi University, visiting professor of Huaguang Photography Art College, Chinese representative of American International Cultural and Art Exchange and Chinese representative of American Art Photographers Association. At present, he is the Honorary Consultant of the Root Photo Society of Japan, the Honorary Consultant of USA PSA (China), and the Honorary Chairman of Jiangxi Photographers Association. His representative works such as Lushan Snow, Eternal Lushan, Golden Fall and Egret Series have been selected into national and international photography exhibitions, published in dozens of newspapers and magazines at home and abroad, and collected by art institutions and colleges in Britain, Japan and the United States. A series of environmental photography works, Beauty of Egret, Charm of Crane, Shadow of Swan Poetry and Charm of Mountain and Lake, have been successively exhibited in the United States, Japan and China in the early years. He has published
such monographic atlas as Lushan Scenery, Egret Photo, Beauty of Egret, Charm of Southeast Asia, A Glimpse of America on the Other Side of Pacific, Poetic Freedom Egret, Maya Civilization Sculpture Collection, etc. On the other side of Pacific: Gong Zheng’s Visit to the United States, Charm of Southeast Asia: Gong Zheng’s Scenery and Overseas Modern Urban Scenery. In 1983, he initiated, proposed and co-founded the China Photography Correspondence College under the unified management of China Photographers Association. He paid attention to photography teaching and scientific research, trained many photography talents and helped them
enter the international arena. He planned and successively presided over the evaluation of the first, second and third China’s Largest Freshwater Lake – Shenyang Lake National Photography Competition and the first International Lake Wetland photography competition. In 1985, he planned
and promoted jointly with Japanese photographer Hiroshi Kubota, President Kikuchi Shinichi, vice president Wang Zhongcai of Jiangxi University and Professor Peng Guoping to realize the establishment of a photography education friendly school between Jiangxi University and Tokyo Polytechnic University. The two schools exchange teaching materials, send professors to give lectures and exchange students’ academic achievements. Media reputation: The first case of photography education in China’s universities. Since 1986, he has been the curator of the Glamour
China photography competition jointly held by Camera magazine and 14 provinces and cities in China. In the same year, he went to Japan with Yang Mao, president of China Environmental News, and Liang Wenjun, director of the photography department of the newspaper, to make an inspection and plan together and held the tour exhibition of Golden Tree Works of Photographers in Taiwan in dozens of large and medium-sized cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Jinan, Nanchang, Wuhan, Guangzhou and Kunming. In 1987, he edited and published a large-scale album of Golden Book Art photography Works with Mr. Shao Yu, President of Beijing People’s fine arts publishing house. In 1990, a photography exhibition entitled East China Elegances was held by the Photographers Association of six provinces in East China. In the same year, he was invited to lead a delegation to visit the United States. He planned and successfully held Liang Guangming Art Photography Exhibition and Chen Hong Art Photography Exhibition successively in Nanchang, Jingdezhen, Guangzhou, Fuzhou and other cities. Lectures will be held at every place along with the exhibition to introduce its artistic features. In 1997, he won the highest award of Chinese photography-Golden Award. In 2014, his series of monographic works A Glimpse of East Africa (8 pieces) won the Outstanding Contribution Award of Natural Ecology Photography at the 3rd China Photography Festival in Los Angeles, United States. In 2015, he was awarded Golden Dragon Award for Chinese Art-Lifelong Achievement Award by the Hong Kong Chinese Art Foundation. In 2016, the series of exhibitions titled Beijing 798 Art Zone (8 pieces) won the Outstanding Contribution Award of Humanistic Photography in the 5th Chinese Photography Industry in Los Angeles, USA. In 2017, he was awarded the Fifth Chinese Photography Art Golden Horse Award One Lifetime Photography Achievement Award by the Chinese Art Foundation of Hong Kong.
代表作品《 廬山瑞雪》 、《千古廬山》、《 金秋爛漫》 、 《 白鷺系列》 等入選全國影展、國際影展，海內外數十家報刊發表，以及被英、日、美等國藝術機構、院校收藏。環境攝影作品系列一 《 鷺之美 》 、 《 鶴之魅 》 、 《 天鵝詩影 》 、 《 山江湖情韻 》 早年先後在美國、日本和國內展出。出版有《廬山風光》、《白鷺圖》、《白鷺之美》、《東南亞之魅》、《大洋彼岸一美國掠影》、《詩意自在一白鷺》、《瑪雅文明——雕塑集萃》等專題圖集。 《大洋彼岸一一宮正訪美攝影作品選 》 、《東南亞之魅一一宮正風光攝影作品選 》 、 《 海外現代都市風光 》 等攝影專輯。
1983年發起、倡議並共同創辦了由中國攝影家協會統一主管的中國攝影函授學院。他注重攝影教學和科研，培養了一大批攝影人才並幫助他們走向國際。策劃並先後主持評審首屆、二屆、三屆《中國最大淡水湖——瀋陽湖》全國攝影大賽、首屆《國際湖泊濕地》攝影比賽。 1985年，策劃並與日本攝影家久保田博二、菊池真一校長、江西大學王仲才副校長、彭國平教授共同推進，實現江西大學與日本東京工藝大學結成攝影教育友好學校。兩校互通教材，互派教授講學，交流學生課業成果。媒體譽為：中國高校攝影教育首例。 1986年起至今連續20屆出任，由《照相機》雜誌以及中國十四個省、市聯合舉辦的《魅力中國》攝影大賽策展人。同年與中國環境報社長楊茅、報社攝影部主任梁文駿一道赴日考察，共同策劃，並實現在北京、上海、濟南、南昌、武漢、廣州、昆明等幾十個大、中城市舉辦了《旅曰台灣攝影家黃金樹作品巡迴展覽》。 1987年，與北京人民美術出版社社長邵宇先生策劃，編輯出版了《黃金書藝術攝影作品集》大型畫冊。 1990年華東六省攝影家協會《華東風情》攝影聯展。同年，應邀率團訪問美國，策劃並成功在南昌、景德鎮、廣州、福州等城市先後舉辦美國紐約攝影學會《梁光明藝術攝影作品展覽》、《陳虹藝術攝影作品展覽》。每地皆隨展舉辦講座，介紹其藝術特色。 1997年榮獲”中國攝影最高獎—金像獎“。 《千古廬山》獲“日中文化交流貢獻獎”。 2014年，系列專題作品《東非洲一瞥（八幅）》獲美國洛杉磯第三屆中國攝影節“自然生態攝影傑出貢獻獎。”2015年，獲香港中華藝術基金會頒發的“中華藝術金龍獎-終身成就獎”。 2016年，系列展題作品《北京七九八藝術圖區（八幅）》獲美國洛杉機第五屆中國攝影界“人文攝影傑出貢獻獎”。 2017年，獲香港中華藝術基金會頒發的“第五屆中華攝影藝術金馬獎一終身攝影成就獎”。
