Awards Ceremony of 2019 Toronto International Photography Festival held on the shores of Lake Ontario, Canada

The 2019 Toronto International Photography Festival was officially started on December 8th, with photographers from all over the world flying to Canada’s beautiful Lake Ontario to gather and celebrate. 230 guests including Canadian government officials from all three levels, leaders of various photography agencies, regional cultural and artistic representatives of the Greater Toronto Area, photography enthusiasts, student representatives, and media representatives came to celebrate and participate in the event.

The red-carpet ceremony started at 9:30 a.m. and photographers began to enter the venue, These photographers usually spending their time hiding behind the lens, working hard to get the best shot, and wearing camouflage clothes crouching in the jungle to catch the best moments of life, or wearing full black standing behind the lens to capturing charming moments for the celebrity models; today they put down their heavy equipment and took off their work clothes, instead donning gorgeous evening clothes, to turn into graceful gentlemen and beautiful ladies, they are the shining and dazzling star in front of the camera just like their own work, a totally different style just like these famous photography.

Mr. Li Kwon-han, famous crosstalk actor and director; Mr. Xia Hao, winner of the 2019 Golden Lens Medal and head coach of the IPF Photo Basketball Team; Mr. Jia Xiaoxuan, famous director and actor; Mr. Xiao Weiqun, a photography lecturer, video output expert and gold medal appraiser, from Beijing, China; the famous writer Mr. and Mrs. Wei Xiaojian walked across the red carpet in warm applause.

MC James, MC Maggie Wang who has hosted two consecutive Photo Festival Awards; famous host Danny Liang, IPF Secretary General, Claire Zhang, five-year consecutive winner of the Pioneer Photo Medal, North American photographer of Internet celebrity; these people co-chaired and introduced the honored red-carpet guests in turn. The award ceremony officially started to the national anthem.

Dr. Huang Chi made the speech of welcome on behalf of the IPF Board of Directors and the Organizing Committee of 2019 Toronto International Photography Festival. She said: “Honourable parliamentarians, leaders of photography agencies, photographer friends from all over the world, generous sponsors, dear friends, good morning everyone, welcome to all of you! In 2015, we hosted the first Toronto International Photography Festival at the magnificent Trump Hotel, and we have completed several photography projects such as three International Photography Festivals and two Toronto Photography Carnivals over the years. At the same time, IPF has focused on international exchange, co-organizing 25 international photography art exchanges with numerous countries and cities around the world, over the past five years, IPF bring photographers’ work to the people of the world, give images a voice and strike a pose on the stage of the world’s art. This year, the Organizing Committee has selected a large number of outstanding works and outstanding talents on the occasion of the fifth anniversary celebration of the International Film Federation. So, we organized this day of so many photographers gathering on the same stage. Here, I would like to give my thanks to you, dear photographers, for walking through the mountains and rivers, as well as through hardships to collect strength, wisdom, courage in one’s body, thus reproducing the wonders of nature and humanity with images, and bringing these great images to the people. Thank you for giving wings to the eyes and thoughts of the viewers, and letting them fly with your lens! While I’m here, I would also like to thank for the joint efforts of all members of the TIPF Organizing Committee and the CAPA Jury. We have accomplished our goal of presenting this year’s awards to the winning photographers with the witness, blessing and company of the honorific guests once again! A congratulatory letter was sent by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto.

The Honourable M. P. Han Dong of the Canadian Federation attended the ceremony and delivered a passionate message. Mr. Dong highly praised the International Photographers Alliance for providing a platform for photographers, practitioners, scholars and enthusiasts to exchange, learn, and innovate. He commented that it promotes the prosperity and development of the industry while constantly exploring the talents of photographers, and he also gave thanks to the organizers for their unremitting efforts, then congratulated the 2019 International Photography Festival for its success.

The MP Jim Karygiannis of the City of Toronto delivered a passionate speech at the ceremony. The MP praised TIPF as a celebration of professionalism in photography and a stage for the exchange and development of photographers, and congratulated all the award-winning photographers on their outstanding achievements, and also congratulated the IPF for leading the photographers to achieve their artistic achievements of their fifth anniversary. He also gives thanks to the organizers for their tireless efforts for the cultural and artistic development of the Toronto city.

Lik-Fong Ng of the award-winning guest and IPF Consultant, and Mr. Quartz of the organizing committee, presented the award to the photography agency that received the Group Organization Award. This time, China’s Shangtufang, China Bird Net, Canada’s Canadian Masterpiece Photography Association won the club group gold medal with outstanding achievements.

China Amber Shadow, China Conscience Hall, Atlantic Photographers Association won the Club Group Silver Award.

The Canadian Chinese Photographic Society, the Canadian F64 Photographic World, the Canadian North American Mobile Photography Association, the Jiangxi Digital Photography Association of China, the Canadian Mad Ness Photo Society, the Canadian Sanqi Film Society, and the Canadian North American Society of Humanities and Nature Photography won the Group Bronze Award.

Mr. Eric Chan and Ms. Jasmine of the committee presented the award for the fourth Best Award in the 12th category of the competition. The award was created by Jeff, president of the Jiahua Masterpiece Photography Association, to encourage contestants close to the award, in which numerous photographers emerge in recent years.

Mr. Rod Trider, who has been the leader and consultant of the competition jury for three consecutive terms, gave full recognition and high praise to the overall level of the entries and congratulated the award-winning photographers for their outstanding achievements in his greetings.

Richard Li, a Hong Kong, China photographer, won the Outstanding International Photographer’s Chairman’s Award for his total contribution (55) at the first place (1244.5 points). The award-winning guest, Mr. Jeff, presented the winners with trophies and certificates.

Mr. Huang Zhiqiang, the award-winning guest and co-chairman of the IPF, presented the trophies, certificates and prizes to Mr. Wang Yu, winner of the 2019 Golden Juke Awards in The State of China, and the SIGMA Brand Art Classic Lens.

Wang Yun, chairman of the awarding guest jury, presented the winner with the Honorary Chairman’s Award for Distinguished Canadian Photographer.

Mr Zhaohe, who has participated in the competition for a consecutive 3 years while still in school, Mr. Yu has turned from a Volunteer to achieve “honor of Canada’s outstanding photographer.” The experience and the words of Zhaohe were heartily applauded.

Canada’s famous wild animal photographer Jiefu has returned to the country to accept the award for exchange contribution presented by Han Dong of the Canadian government. Jiefu has cultivated a large number of elite film talents in the areas of film education and international competition as one of the founders of the film and chairman of the Film Festival for five years. His talent has also been admired by film equipment institutions to sign a contact.

Other persons who have received the honor include a total of 5 people of Ms. Yu, the Foundation for Education, Mr. Wang, the Chinese National Secretary of SIGMA, Ms. Sheng Lei, a Chinese curator and writer, and Tim Logatsang, a high school student.

The Commission acknowledges and encourages their efforts and contributions over the past five years in the development of the Federation’s skills, the development of video technology, the development of international exchanges, the exchange of literature, and so on.

Rod Trider is a member of the Board of Education for three times a consecutive of 5 years, and has led the 125-year-old North American Society CAPA to produce numerous talented talents for the Great Fair. He is also a photographer, an image collector, and an officer, and has devoted his life to the research of the printing of characters. Today, the IPF Committee will award Mr. Rod his Achievement Award.

It is reported that the Toronto International Photography Festival Organizing Committee announced to present the award of the lifetime achievement to the photography artist Mr. Miyazheng, and the award of “Global Eco-Photographer” to Mr. Duan Wenke’s Honorary Chairman; as well as four people of Hong Kong, China) John Fan (U.S.) Tao Li Liyuan (China) Yan Chen Yu / Amber (Canada) Peng Bang (Hong Kong, China) has also achieved the honor.

At the same time, the 2019 Toronto International Photography Festival awarded the Distinguished International Photographer’s Medal to 10 photographers, namely Cu Jianxin, Xiaogo, Phillip Chang, Wu Jinrong, Duan Wenzhang, Shang Hua, Xu Zhihong, Yang Jianrong, Liu Dan and Xu Haokun.

At the same time, the 2019 Toronto International Photography Festival awarded the Distinguished International Photographer’s Medal to 10 photographers, namely Cu Jianxin, Xiaogo, Phillip Chang, Wu Jinrong, Duan Wenzhang, Shang Hua, Xu Zhihong, Yang Jianrong, Liu Dan and Xu Haokun.

The award-winning director, Mr. Zhang Wei and Mr. Pan Yezhi, wore medals and certificates for the Chairman of the Classic Image of the Year Award. Mr. Zhang made a speech congratulating the photographers on the award.

The award-winning guest, Mr. Zhong Xin, step on the stage to congratulate everyone and present the medal to the 57 Pioneer Photographers Medal winners.

In the morning’s link of lucky draw, Epass’s president Li step on the stage for drawing – and the Palace museum’s literary product “ChiyuJiang mountain screen” was luckily achieved by Ms. Stella Hua and Mr. Li Hang.

Afterwards, guests enjoyed a delicious lunch and a genial exchange at the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel.

At 1:30 p.m., the guided session of the AGO Ontario Art Museum went ahead as scheduled, and they visited the treasures of the town hall and enjoyed the classic works of art by the world’s masters under the leadership of the host.

In the exciting summit forum of “Salute to Black and White Photography”, Zhao Zude, the winner of the 2015 Film Award in 2017, Mr. Yu, the 2015 Golden Medal winner, Mr. Pan Yezhi, vice-chairman of the 2019 Dodo National Film Festival, delivered important speeches.

Mr. Huang Zhiqiang, a famous photographer, explained the experience of photography to the audience and many college students.

On the “Promise to art” summit forum of Toronto International Shooting, Mr. Xiao Yuqun (Shadow lecturer, specialist for arts work digitization, Representative of authentication institution for Hong Kong Film Awards: China True Color Studio), Mr. Zuo Zhi(Famous IPF American Consultant Representative institution: China Art Center, Chairman Zhou Hong (2015 Gold Medal Winner, Representative institution: F64 Photograph World), Mr. Jia Xiaoyu (Director, Actor, Representative institution: Canadian Classic) respectively delivered wonderful speeches.

At 6:30 p.m., after the party began to cheerful music, committee member Shi Ying, Mr. Huang Zhiqiang, and Chairman Pan Yezhi came around to singing classic songs surrounding the thesis “the photographer who is not a singer is not a good cook” to bring the party to its climax, Toronto’s famous new singing troupe sang the latest popular songs. As it happened to be the birthday of music director Miss Cara Liu, all the guests wished her a happy birthday and shared the birthday cake, and they gathered at the Toronto International Photographs Festival to talk about the photos and date for the coming year.
